The connection in the curriculum is for grade one students studying the planets. This would fall under the science context. It is a great game to teach about gravity and the planets. It is also fun for students to learn this way and have some pretend visuals about space.

I would have my students use this website after we talk about gravity. The students may be unclear about what gravity is. I would explain what gravity is and the properties of gravity. I could use examples in the classroom with objects; from here I would allow the students to try the game of gravity out. The students will gain a stronger sense of what gravity is and how it is applied in space and on earth. This will hopefully give the students an insight to some of the characteristics of space. I would allow the students to use their spare time on this website when appropriate.

I think that the website will foster the knowledge of my students because they will understand the difference between gravity on earth and the lack of in space. It may be difficult for some students to understand the lack of gravity and the force of gravity. This website could act as a visual aid, while still being entertaining for a grade one audience.

The connection to the curriculum is in the Arts education connection.  The grade would be grade one or kindergarten. 

I would have my students learn about pianos.  The students can learn about music and what goes into the composition of music.  The students will be able to learn about the keys.  I would have the students play the game with a partner to share their melodies and describe what they liked about each other’s songs. 

I think that it would improve my students learning because they will be able to learn some of the basic keys on the keyboard.  They will also develop more eye hand coordination with having to move the cursor from colour to colour.  I feel that since most schools cannot provide pianos for students nor do all students have pianos at home they are still able to learn some of the basic notes.  It is not the same as an actual piano, but at least they will gain some experience with the piano keyboard.

This website fits into the Evergreen Curriculum under the Health Education context.  The most applicable grade for this information is grade two.  The units that it fits into are: “A healthy Body: A unit on Emotion Support” and “Food For Thought: A Unit on Nutrition.”   

I would have my students use this website to do some reading and play some of the games.  We would be doing a study in the classroom, so that the information on the website will not be too advanced.  I would also like to print the information off for the students that they find interesting.  Each student can browse the website and then tell me what struck them or provoked their thinking.  I would then print off the sheets that they liked and they could each have information about something applicable to my lesson.  The students could then share the information with their classmates and parents.

This will improve my students learning because they will be able to learn more about feelings and the body.  They will grasp a larger understanding of how the body works and why we feel the way that we do sometimes.  It will be a new venture for my students to read about this information or have the information read to them depending on their reading level.  The website is written in very simplistic terms, so it should idealistically be in right calibre of reading for the students.  I feel that the students would also enjoy being able to have the information that they have found at their finger tips to share with their classmates or parents.

The curriculum connection would be in the English Language Arts Curriculum.  The grade would be grade four.  The students playing this game in a way are self assessing themselves because they will control their skill level and difficulty level.  The students will be able to know how comfortable they are with words and learning bigger words.  After using the webpage the students can record their words and then define the words that they do not know the definition or meaning of.  This is will be like a self assessing project.

I would have my students use the website when they have spare time.  They will be asked to play the game and record the words that they create.  After a week of recording I would ask the students to share the words with me as a group.  We will see which words students do and do not know.  The students will be asked to define the words that they do not know.  The students will see their own personal progress with words while broadening their vocabulary.

I feel that my students will improve their learning because they will be able to advance their knowledge of words and vocabulary.  The students will also be able to self asses and motivate themselves to move onto the next level of difficulty of the game.

The link to the curriculum is in grade five mathematics levels and under the section of money.  This is a connection from the Evergreen Curriculum.  Although there is not a set out curriculum link for grade five math as there is for other grades such as grades one and four there is a rubric for grade five and lesson with money.  The webpage will be a good refresher for students and something that they can challenge themselves with in spare time, as we all know every student has different needs and have different abilities.  Thus the students can use this as a refresher or a challenge.

This will be a good review for students from their previous learning in lower grades.  There is a difficultly level for students to choose from so this will fit the needs of all the students.  It ranges from easy, medium, hard and super brain.  The students who are looking for more of a challenge can also use the other currency connections.

I think that this will help my students learn because they will be able to experience currency from other countries if they want to. They can also challenge each other and themselves with this webpage.  The students will also be able to share the webpage with their parents.  The skills that they will learn from this webpage are money skills that are life long and necessary to get by in society.

Cramberry is webpage for students to be able to memorize and study with. The students can create flashcards online where the webpage will prompt them with the cars. It is basic and easy for students to understand. The cards flash in a random order and it is a great studying tool. Any range of students can use this webpage while they are studying. The webpage is also free so there will no cost. I would have my students set up an account and page where they will always be able to access their information.

I could use it in any classroom in any subject for review and studying for exams. They can also use it to learn no concepts. It is basically informal testing. There is no stress of marks, but a simple procedure to figure out where I can help my students and where they are excelling.

This would be most helpful in learning addition in subtraction for grade one context. It can also move onto division and multiplication in later grades. Here is the connection to the “Evergreen Curriculum”.

I think that my students will benefit because it is a new way to study and can help stray away from the traditional methods of studying. It may help students study effectively and learn new methods of retrieving information.

I think that this website would be most beneficial for a younger audience for English Language Arts.  I would have grade three and grade four students depending on the levels of all the students.  The students that I would interactively have used the parts of speech would be grade five. Once again depending on the level that the students are at, some students may chose to use the advanced version or the beginner version.  It will be depending on the comfort level of the students.  Not all students are the same capability level and require different lessons.  It fits into the Evergreen curriculum English Language Arts section under the Language Arts Stand section.  This section is for the understanding of viewing and representing.  The students will be able to have a visual aid and represent their knowledge of sentence structure.

I think that it would improve my student’s understanding of sentence structure because it gives a visual aid and the students have other information that they can read about with other detailed examples such as an adjective, adverb, pronoun etc.

The students can choose what they would like to use for their multiples ranging from 2-12.  The pumpkins from the sky then fall down with numbers on them.  There are numbers that are wrong multiples and numbers that are the correct multiples.  The numbers that are incorrect are counted into the overall scoring along with the correct ones.  For example 17 out of 20 were correct. The child can use it to improve their multiplication skills because they will be figuring the multiples and perhaps it would provoke their thinking.  For example they may choose the number 8.  So as multiples fall down they must figure out if it a multiple, so if 72 falls down they will have to quickly do math in their heads and figure out “ok, 9 x 8=72, so it is a multiple.”

The child can then see how many they have gotten incorrect and how many correct.  I thought that it would be a great way for the children to be able to use the computer and an interactive webpage instead of using flashcards or oral quizzing etc.  I would have the students go online after they have done an assignment or in spare time to use the website as a reviewing source.   This will engage the students into thinking quickly and memorization of their multiplication tables.  They will be able to challenge themselves to learn higher multiples.  The students are also engaged in technology and use of the internet.

3. I would have the students split into five groups to work on the five “cool subjects” the site offers (also depending on the number of computers available).  To have the children work together will help with the strengths and weaknesses of their peers.  The subject areas are: “planets and the solar system”, “laws of the universe, earth”, “space technology”, and “stars, galaxies and black holes”.  The students will then present to the other students and teach what they have learned.  I would also have the students play the games which are educational and helpful to their learning.

4. I think that just by using the internet and computers as a teaching tool will help students’ improve their learning because they are exposed to more resources.  The web is another helpful teaching tool to steer away from just teacher dictating and book work.  I think that students will be more interest and have an easier time understand with the visual aid of a computer.
