The game is fairly challenging and great for basic computer motor skills.</span></p>
<p class="body" style="margin:auto 0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;">The connection in the <a href="http://www.sasked.gov.sk.ca/docs/elemsci/gr1udesc.html">curriculum</a> is for grade one students studying the planets.<span> </span>This would fall under the science context.<span> </span>It is a great game to teach about gravity and the planets.<span> </span>It is also fun for students to learn this way and have some pretend visuals about space.</span></p>

<p class="body" style="margin:auto 0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;">I would have my students use this website after we talk about gravity.<span> </span>The students may be unclear about what gravity is.<span> </span>I would explain what gravity is and the properties of gravity.<span> </span>I could use examples in the classroom with objects; from here I would allow the students to try the game of gravity out.<span> </span>The students will gain a stronger sense of what gravity is and how it is applied in space and on earth.<span> </span>This will hopefully give the students an insight to some of the characteristics of space.<span> </span>I would allow the students to use their spare time on this website when appropriate.</span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:Calibri;"><a href="http://www.flashmusicgames.com/rainbow_piano.html">Rainbow Piano</a> is a great website for making music for children.<span>  </span>There is a virtually colour coded keyboard from a piano.<span>  </span>The keyboard has notes on the keys as well.<span>  </span>Colours come up and the students have to use their mouse to select the colour of the key on the piano.<span>  </span>The fasters that they select the colours and notes on the keyboard the smoother their music sounds.<span>  </span>The slower that they do it the less together their piece of music sounds.<span>  </span></span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:Calibri;">I would have my students learn about pianos.<span>  </span>The students can learn about music and what goes into the composition of music.<span>  </span>The students will be able to learn about the keys.<span>  </span>I would have the students play the game with a partner to share their melodies and describe what they liked about each other’s songs.<span>  </span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">I think that it would improve my students learning because they will be able to learn some of the basic keys on the keyboard.<span>  </span>They will also develop more eye hand coordination with having to move the cursor from colour to colour.<span>  </span>I feel that since most schools cannot provide pianos for students nor do all students have pianos at home they are still able to learn some of the basic notes.<span>  </span>It is not the same as an actual piano, but at least they will gain some experience with the piano keyboard.</span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0 0 10pt;"><span lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;"><a href="http://kidshealth.org/kid/htbw/htbw_main_page.html">How The Body Works</a> is a website that kids can learn a lot of valuable information about the body.<span>  </span>The website supplies information about health and the lifestyle that you need to have to maintain a healthy life.<span>  </span>Here is a link to the website.<span>  </span>There is a lot of information on this site that is valuable to students, parents and teachers.<span>  </span>It gives information about the body, muscles, and joints, how the body works, recipes, kids talk etc.<span>  </span>There is a lot of valuable information for the students to read and think about.<span>  </span>It will beneficial for the students to read and find any of the answers about their bodies that they are looking for.<span>  </span>There is also a section about emotional ailments that students may suffer from; there is a description on symptoms and what they can do to make themselves feel better.<span>  </span>For example “what is sadness”.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:normal;text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-family:Calibri;">This website fits into the <a href="http://www.sasked.gov.sk.ca/docs/health/health1-5/index.html">Evergreen Curriculum </a>under the Health Education context.<span>  </span>The most applicable grade for this information is grade two.<span>  </span>The units that it fits into are: “A healthy Body: A unit on Emotion Support” and “Food For Thought: A Unit on Nutrition.” <span>  </span></span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:normal;text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">I would have my students use this website to do some reading and play some of the games.<span>  </span>We would be doing a study in the classroom, so that the information on the website will not be too advanced.<span>  </span>I would also like to print the information off for the students that they find interesting.<span>  </span>Each student can browse the website and then tell me what struck them or provoked their thinking.<span>  </span>I would then print off the sheets that they liked and they could each have information about something applicable to my lesson.<span>  </span>The students could then share the information with their classmates and parents.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:normal;text-align:justify;margin:0 0 10pt;"><span lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">This will improve my students learning because they will be able to learn more about feelings and the body.<span>  </span>They will grasp a larger understanding of how the body works and why we feel the way that we do sometimes.<span>  </span>It will be a new venture for my students to read about this information or have the information read to them depending on their reading level.<span>  </span>The website is written in very simplistic terms, so it should idealistically be in right calibre of reading for the students.<span>  </span>I feel that the students would also enjoy being able to have the information that they have found at their finger tips to share with their classmates or parents.</span></span></p>

For example if they are given the letters (e, s, t, p, the words that can be made from that are nest, net, pest, step etc).<span>  </span>While they are scrambling the letters they must race against the computer.<span>   </span>There is an option of difficulty level for the students to choose from.<span>  </span>The students will have an option on difficulty, so they can work at their own pace and challenge themselves.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">The curriculum connection would be in the <a href="http://www.sasked.gov.sk.ca/docs/ela/learnobj/g4-01.html">English Language Arts Curriculum</a>.<span>  </span>The grade would be grade four.<span>  </span>The students playing this game in a way are self assessing themselves because they will control their skill level and difficulty level.<span>  </span>The students will be able to know how comfortable they are with words and learning bigger words.<span>  </span>After using the webpage the students can record their words and then define the words that they do not know the definition or meaning of.<span>  </span>This is will be like a self assessing project.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">I would have my students use the website when they have spare time.<span>  </span>They will be asked to play the game and record the words that they create.<span>  </span>After a week of recording I would ask the students to share the words with me as a group.<span>  </span>We will see which words students do and do not know. <span> </span>The students will be asked to define the words that they do not know.<span>  </span>The students will see their own personal progress with words while broadening their vocabulary.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">I feel that my students will improve their learning because they will be able to advance their knowledge of words and vocabulary.<span>  </span>The students will also be able to self asses and motivate themselves to move onto the next level of difficulty of the game.</span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="body" style="margin:auto 0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;">The <a href="http://www.funbrain.com/cashreg/">Change maker</a> is website for students to count with money.<span>  </span>They are able to choose the currency of Canada, United States, Mexico, United Kingdom and Australia. <span> </span>From there the students are asked to imagine that they are in a store with someone purchasing something from them. <span> </span>After the merchant has made their purchase they must give the correct change from the amount given. <span> </span>For example the item is a total cost is $3.50, and they were given a $5 bill. <span> </span>The student must figure out how much to give back and which coins or bills to use to return to the people. <span> </span></span></p>
<p class="body" style="margin:auto 0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;">The link to the curriculum is in grade five mathematics levels and under the section of money.<span>  </span>This is a connection from the <a href="http://www.sasklearning.gov.sk.ca/docs/rubrics/math/index.html">Evergreen Curriculum</a>.<span>  </span>Although there is not a set out curriculum link for grade five math as there is for other grades such as grades one and four there is a rubric for grade five and lesson with money. <span> </span>The webpage will be a good refresher for students and something that they can challenge themselves with in spare time, as we all know every student has different needs and have different abilities. <span> </span>Thus the students can use this as a refresher or a challenge.</span></p>
<p class="body" style="margin:auto 0;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;">This will be a good review for students from their previous learning in lower grades. <span> </span>There is a difficultly level for students to choose from so this will fit the needs of all the students. <span> </span>It ranges from easy, medium, hard and super brain. <span> </span>The students who are looking for more of a challenge can also use the other currency connections.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Times New Roman;">I think that this will help my students learn because they will be able to experience currency from other countries if they want to. They can also challenge each other and themselves with this webpage. <span> </span>The students will also be able to share the webpage with their parents. <span> </span>The skills that they will learn from this webpage are money skills that are life long and necessary to get by in society. </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">I could use it in any classroom in any subject for review and studying for exams. They can also use it to learn no concepts.<span> </span>It is basically informal testing.<span> </span>There is no stress of marks, but a simple procedure to figure out where I can help my students and where they are excelling.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This would be most helpful in learning addition in subtraction for grade one context. It can also move onto division and multiplication in later grades.<span> </span>Here is the connection to the “<a href="http://www.sasked.gov.sk.ca/docs/math_curricula/g1_math_curr_2007.pdf">Evergreen Curriculum</a>”.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">I think that this website would be most beneficial for a younger audience for English Language Arts.<span>  </span>I would have grade three and grade four students depending on the levels of all the students.<span>  </span>The students that I would interactively have used the parts of speech would be grade five. Once again depending on the level that the students are at, some students may chose to use the advanced version or the beginner version.<span>  </span>It will be depending on the comfort level of the students.<span>  </span>Not all students are the same capability level and require different lessons.<span>  </span>It fits into the Evergreen curriculum English Language Arts section under the Language Arts Stand section.<span>  </span>This section is for the understanding of viewing and representing.<span>  </span>The students will be able to have a visual aid and represent their knowledge of sentence structure.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0 0 10pt;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Calibri;">I think that it would improve my student’s understanding of sentence structure because it gives a visual aid and the students have other information that they can read about with other detailed examples such as an adjective, adverb, pronoun etc.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:&quot;">The students can choose what they would like to use for their multiples ranging from 2-12.  The pumpkins from the sky then fall down with numbers on them.  There are numbers that are wrong multiples and numbers that are the correct multiples.  The numbers that are incorrect are counted into the overall scoring along with the correct ones.  For example 17 out of 20 were correct. </span><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:&quot;">The child can use it to improve their multiplication skills because they will be figuring the multiples and perhaps it would provoke their thinking.  For example they may choose the number 8.  So as multiples fall down they must figure out if it a multiple, so if 72 falls down they will have to quickly do math in their heads and figure out “ok, 9 x 8=72, so it is a multiple.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:&quot;">The child can then see how many they have gotten incorrect and how many correct.  I thought that it would be a great way for the children to be able to use the computer and an interactive webpage instead of using flashcards or oral quizzing etc.  I would have the students go online after they have done an assignment or in spare time to use the website as a reviewing source.   This will engage the students into thinking quickly and memorization of their multiplication tables.  They will be able to challenge themselves to learn higher multiples.  The students are also engaged in technology and use of the internet.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://spaceplace.nasa.gov/en/kids/cool_subjects.shtml">The Space Place</a> is a great opportunity for children to openly explore the wonders of space.2.  The site has various subjects, games and facts for children to explore.  I would use this site for children in grade three.  The games have a variety of choices for students depending on skill level.  The projects consist of colouring, guessing, puzzles and trivia.  The facts and subjects are at more difficult level for the more advanced children.  The site would be used for science building knowledge that students previous have about matter and planets.  It will fit into the Evergreen curriculum for grade three students in a lot of the units because it ranges from the laws of the universe to planets and the solar system.</p>
<p>3. I would have the students split into five groups to work on the five “cool subjects” the site offers (also depending on the number of computers available).  To have the children work together will help with the strengths and weaknesses of their peers.  The subject areas are: “planets and the solar system”, “laws of the universe, earth”, “space technology”, and “stars, galaxies and black holes”.  The students will then present to the other students and teach what they have learned.  I would also have the students play the games which are educational and helpful to their learning.</p>
<p>4. I think that just by using the internet and computers as a teaching tool will help students’ improve their learning because they are exposed to more resources.  The web is another helpful teaching tool to steer away from just teacher dictating and book work.  I think that students will be more interest and have an easier time understand with the visual aid of a computer.</p>
